Your Smart spending does a lot more than you think. Whenever you buy or patronize locally-made products or services, you are creating opportunity for your Brothers and Sisters or other relatives and friends who are either entrepreneurs, or employed by local manufacturers. We help ourselves each time we patronize locally-made products or services. So, be mindful of your purchase decisions and choose wisely.
Local people spending local money on foreign products and services equals foreign jobs. If every citizen spend GH¢1.00 on locally-made products or services, it would create almost 30,000 new jobs each year. And, if every builder used just 5 percent more locally-made products, it would create 220,000 jobs. If every household use just 20 percent locally-made products, it will create more jobs for our unemployed graduates and non-graduates. These jobs are the foundation of a thriving economy.
GH¢ 1.00 spent on locally-made product / service = New Jobs
Each manufacturing job creates an additional 5 – 10 jobs.
When you buy locally-made products, the proceeds remain in your country. The money you spend then pays the workers that directly or indirectly created the product or service you purchased. When you and I spend our money on 100% locally-made products or services, the proceeds will not be changed to foreign currency for repatriation that would put pressure on the local currency. This will result in stronger currency. Workers used in producing these products and services will also pay taxes on wages earned in the country. These taxes are used for roads and other social interventions by the Government.
